Pectel is proud to announce that they have been bestowed with highly commended honours at this year’s prestigious Construction News Specialist Awards in the category of Site Preparation and Services including Asbestos Removal for works undertaken at the London Tunnels, known as the ‘City under a City’.

The awards ceremony which took place on 4 March 2010 at the London Hilton, Park Lane is now one of the construction industry's most notable annual events, recognising and rewarding the best specialist contractors in the business. Construction News organises the awards evening with the support of the National Specialist Contractors Council.　

The acclaimed project detailed the completion of BT London Deep Level Tunnel – Uplift and Modernization Programme; comprising of minor structural works, corrosion treatment, removal of trace asbestos coatings and encapsulations and the installation of new fire barriers & electrical systems.

Director Scott Murray who has been involved in the project since its inception in 1999 and who received the award on Pectel’s behalf commented "It is a tremendous result for Pectel and is testament to the project team which have delivered to the highest standards."

Steve Haim, Pectel Safety, Quality and Environmental Director referring to the projects impressive safety record of an excess of one million safe working hours and a four year continuous period without a reportable accident or incident also illustrated his delight in receiving the accolade "This award is demonstration to the importance we place on health and safety and risk management across the company."
