Keltbray Appoints New Industrial and Explosives Managing Director

Esher 2 October 2012: Keltbray, which is a UK leader in specialist engineering, construction and decommissioning services, has appointed Bob Johnstone as Managing Director of the company’s Industrial and Explosives Division.

Bob comes to Keltbray with 25 years’ of experience in the construction, decommissioning and demolition sectors, working as a consultant to the industry and increasingly direct to the company. His experience encompases the management and control of large-scale construction and demolition projects within the industrial, petrochemical, airport and nuclear sectors. But it was while running his own consultancy he developed a special interest and reputation within the demolition field in the UK and beyond: “From the outset of my career demolition has been an area of particular interest and professional focus. Over that time I’ve had the privelage of engineering the demolition of many iconic structures, and working with some of the most dedicated individuals in any industry. Having been involved with the Keltbray team for some years, and observed at first hand their absolute professionalism on all fronts, I had no hesitation in accepting this position when offered.” he explains.

According to Managing Director of Keltbray Group John Price, Bob, who is a chartered engineer with a post-graduate degree, and Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers, complements the existing industrial and explosives teams by bringing his design capability and experience as a consultant to the division: “We’re delighted Bob is joining us as his experience in working directly for major clients will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to cater for their project needs. Effective communication is all important in the modern demolition industry, particularly with clients responsible for highly regulated sites, and is one of the key factors recognised by Keltbray in achieving a safe and successful project.” he said.

Bob is based in Keltbray’s Leeds office, and will be responsible for strengthening the Group’s geographical reach and expanding the company’s demolition portfolio in the industrial, petrochemical and nuclear sectors.
