Plant and Haulage

The plant department provides high specification and fully supported equipment to projects associated with Demolition & Civil Engineering, Rail and Environmental Materials Management.

This includes specialist excavators from 3/4 to 75 tonne, dumper trucks, access booms, skidsteers and shovels. We also supply specialised robotic demolition equipment. Our track record in delivering complex rail projects also means we have nearly 100 road rail vehicles and maintenance machines for rail infrastructure use. This includes the largest fleet of mobile elevating working platforms in the country, to carry out electrification, permanent way and civil engineering projects on the railways. Our in-house mobile fitting team provide rapid and effective response in the event of breakdown.

Keltbray is a founding member of Transport for London’s Freight Operator’s Recognition Scheme (FORS); a best practice certification scheme, and operates one of the largest Low Emission Zone compliant heavy good vehicle fleets in London. This includes a new fleet of Euro 5 compliant rigid tippers, hook loaders, Hiab grab vehicles, low loaders, flat bed and beaver tail plant vehicles. All large plant is fitted with KOMTRAX™ which is an exclusive system that allows Keltbray to monitor all the essential information about our site plant and to directly optimise their output through increased efficiency and pro-active maintenance. Keltbray have been awarded the highest FORS gold standard, one of only 22 companies in the UK to have received this level and our ongoing commitment to driver training and investment in our fleet has been recognised with the Tipper Haulier of the Year 2014 accolade.

We promote safety through training and constantly monitor driving standards by using data intelligence from tracking systems, vehicle mounted CCTV and ‘in cab’ computer statistics. Drivers also work with the Metropolitan Police to promote cycling safety in London through ‘exchanging places’ events where cyclists are offered the opportunity to sit in the cab of a Keltbray lorry and see for themselves the view and blind spots that a driver has within the cab. To assist our drivers further all heavy goods vehicles are fitted with a cycle sensor system for additional safety for cyclists and pedestrians.
