7 March 2012: Keltbray Rail has been awarded the contract to provide Power Supply Upgrade (PSU) Phase 3A Along Track Works by Network Rail. Work on the two year contract, which is valued at £46 million, is commencing this month as part of Network Rail’s 10 year investment programme, to provide a more efficient and environmentally sustainable rail infrastructure.
The work involved will include the construction of Overhead Line Electrification (OLE), and incorporates design, civils, signalling and de-vegetation works. The overall programme will be completed in March 2014 from Keltbray’s facilities in Crewe in Cheshire and Rugby in Warwickshire.
Phill Price, who is Keltbray’s Infrastructure and Rail Managing Director, said: “The award of this contract is a major step forward in positioning Keltbray Rail as a respected and highly competent project delivery partner within the rail sector. During a time when the market generally remains subdued, this contract provides a welcome boost to our business, our sector and the economy in general. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our team on a hugely successful bid, and wish them every success in the delivery of the project”.
The PSU Project Team will be headed up by PSU Project Director, Warren Jones, and will be heavily focussed on delivering the project to the very highest standards, founded on the company’s direct delivery principles utilising its own people and plant. Managing Director of Keltbray Aspire, Peter Gray, added: “The award of the PSU contract is a massive vote of confidence for Keltbray, but as importantly for the direct delivery model. We have invested a significant amount of money ensuring that we are prepared to deliver this project, and it is very exciting and rewarding to know we now have the opportunity to show the quality of our company on the big stage.”
