which is a UK leader in specialist engineering, construction and decommissioning services, is proud to have won an astounding five awards at the 2013 City of London Corporation’s Considerate Contractor Scheme Awards.
At the ceremony, which also marked the 25th anniversary for the scheme, Keltbray secured the most prestigious award, The Chairman’s Cup, as well as a Highly Commended Gold Award for work carried out at 100 Cheapside.
Keltbray secured a further three Gold Awards for work carried out at the following sites:
- Telex House, Fore Street Avenue
- 8-10 Moorgate
- 30 Old Bailey and 60 Ludgate Hill
According to The City of London Corporation, Keltbray was presented with the Chairman’s Cup based on the company’s promotion of the Considerate Contractor ideals at 100 Cheapside.
Chief Executive and Owner of Keltbray, Brendan Kerr, said: “We are delighted that our work is being recognised by The City of London Corporation in this way. As these awards and our recent World Demolition and RoSPA Gold Award wins demonstrate, we fully support The Considerate Contractor Scheme’s aims by carrying out our operations in a safe and considerate manner on our sites.”
The Considerate Contractor Scheme aims to encourage building and civil engineering contractors working in the City to carry out their operations in a safe and considerate manner, with due regard to passing pedestrians and road users. As part of the scheme, building sites and street works are annually judged on the basis of their overall performance during that year and on a site visit by a specially appointed judging panel.
Further good news is that Keltbray has been presented with A Considerate Constructors Performance Beyond Compliance Certificate at Glebe Place in London for work to demolish the former Jamahiriya School together with mini piling operations to facilitate a retained façade on site.
In his report, Considerate Constructors Scheme Monitor, Malcolm Viccars, said: “Demolition work is never the best neighbour, but here there is almost an exception. There is very careful consideration of the residents and neighbours especially the special needs school adjacent to the site.”
