Keltbray Golf Environmental, which is part of Keltbray Group and specialises in the design and construction of golf courses, sports facilities and restoration of former landfill and quarry sites, is constructing a new 20-metre long island at Twynersh Fishing Complex near Chertsey in Surrey.
This island construction is part of a bigger contract at the fishing complex, which also includes the re-contouring of a lake bank and making the lake shallower using soils and arisings from work Keltbray is carrying out at Holland Green in London as engineering material, rather than waste.
The purpose of this work is to improve biodiversity habitat and wildlife and further enrich overall fishing conditions on site.
Managing Director of Keltbray Golf Environmental, David Jenner, said: “Planning was secured in April, and we are now two months into the six month project, which involves the importation of the 50,000 cubic metres of soil; the equivalent amount of material to fill 20 Olympic sized swimming pools.”
“This project is being carried out in accordance with the Contaminated Land: Applications in Real Environments (CL:AIRE) code of practice, which seeks tostimulate the regeneration of contaminated land in the UK using sustainable remediation technologies. On this contract, this means using materials from work we are carrying out at other construction sites as engineering material, rather than waste, to change and improve landscapes.”
