Demolition & Civil Engineering Apprentice for Keltbray, Chris Clarke, who is based at London Bridge has been awarded a commendation in this year’s Land Securities Land Employment Awards.
This award scheme celebrates young people for their outstanding achievements on site, and for achieving sustainable employment against the odds.
Chris joined Keltbray after spending a year as unemployed and then as a road sweeper. Following a three-day asbestos awareness course and training in plant and demolition, he gained his Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CBuilt Environment Services) card and was offered an apprenticeship with Keltbray.
This award is in recognition of the way Chris has grasped the opportunities presented to him during the Demolition Apprentice Scheme. He says: “I’m really pleased about this recognition.
“I enjoy the work and we all get on well here at London Bridge and have a good laugh, which makes me feel a valuable member of the site team. The physical aspect of the job has also helped me lose a lot of weight, and I’m half the size now that I used to be!”
