Esher 25 September 2015: Keltbray Group, which is a UK leading specialist business that offers engineering, construction, demolition, decommissioning, remediation, rail and environmental services, today announced a new partnership with MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) to support their Research and Community Programme.
Keltbray is sponsoring the new programme as part of its corporate social responsibility strategy. “As a company, we contribute to society through employment and taxes, and by developing land, buildings and new infrastructure projects for the future. Less known is our contribution to history and heritage and work with MOLA on numerous projects. We are currently working at St Bartholomew’s in London, where excavations are due to be completed in November, and where archaeologists, as part of an earlier phase of the works, found Roman and medieval city ditches used as rubbish tips; recovering items such as tobacco pipes, tweezers, pots, leather shoes and arrowheads,” explained Keltbray Group Managing Director, John Price (pictured right).
“Then there was Convoys Wharf, where excavations in 2011 unearthed several phases of the Dockyard Basin, which are of huge significance for the nation’s maritime heritage, and Moorgate in 2013 where MOLA discovered several buildings from the medieval and Roman periods,” he continued.
Chief Executive for MOLA, Taryn Nixon (pictured left), is delighted to have Keltbray on board: “As a charitable company our aim is to inspire people to be curious about their heritage and understand their past. Keltbray plays an integral part in this work, and we look forward to working more closely with the company to maximise opportunities around volunteering and apprenticeships and new skills development for young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training.”
At Keltbray one in 14 of our employees is an apprentice or trainee, and every year the company provides work and training opportunities to more than 350 unemployed people to help equip them to contribute meaningfully to society. “For us, this partnership with MOLA has far-reaching benefits and great synergies with our own belief that peoples’ lives can be transformed by being given opportunities through practical training and work,” concluded John Price.
