Esher 11 October 2015: Keltbray Group, which is a UK leading specialist business that provides demolition and civil engineering, rail and environmental management services, has climbed 107 places in the annual Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250 league table ranks. Ranked 138th overall, this means Keltbray is now amongst the top 10 engineering and building related private mid-market growth companies in Britain. This year’s ranking as 138th in the country follows last year’s entry to the list, when the company was placed at 245; making is a ‘Top Track’ company to watch.
To qualify for the ranking, all Top Track 250 companies had to increase sales or profits by at least 10% year-on-year, and were ranked by sales in their latest available accounts.
Chief Executive Officer for Keltbray Group, Brendan Kerr, said: “Last year Keltbray Group saw a 50% increase in turnover for the financial year ending 31 October 2014, from £144.7 million to £216.9 million. This was the best ever performance in our 39-year history, and the result of us securing a good, long term pipeline of work. Our continued strengthening was primarily driven by the demolition and civil engineering business stream, where experienced project teams supported by our in-house design capability, provide innovative solutions and delivery on complex challenging projects such as Earls Court, BBC Television Centre, Chelsea Barracks, London Bridge stations and Bradwell Power Station. However, our piling and asbestos businesses are now also established as major players in their sectors and allow us to offer an integrated service to our clients which cannot be matched in the UK market.
“In our Rail business we are continuing to invest in overhead line electrification plant and recently had four new road rail vehicles and a bespoke high output wiring unit delivered. This means our electrical plant capability is now one of the largest in the UK, while within our Environmental Materials Management business stream, the Remediation business had a very successful first year of trading and has good growth opportunities.
“We do not anticipate another year of 50% growth but hope to achieve double digit turnover growth in 2015 and will be looking to develop our existing and new businesses further in line with our core sectors.”
The Top Track 250 league table has been compiled for the 11th year by Fast Track, the Oxford-based research and networking events company. Malcolm Gomersall, Partner at Grant Thornton UK LLP, which sponsors the league table, praised the companies for their performance: “It’s inspiring to see such a diverse range of businesses creating growth opportunities both at home and abroad and positively contributing to the UK economy. Many of the businesses highlighted are recognising that the best way to grow and create sustainable profits is by developing new, innovative ways to serve their customers, alongside making a broader contribution to society.”
