31 March 2016: Keltbray Group is sponsoring one of the company’s Plant Fitters, James Dunne, to compete in Thundersport GB’s A&R Racing Pre-National 600s championships this season. Now in its ninth year, Thundersport GB is one of the UK’s fastest growing motorcycle racing clubs.
James, who joined Keltbray last year, has been competing at club level since 2013 and is racing onboard a Triumph Daytona 675R.
About the sponsorship from Keltbray, James says: “It’s an expensive sport, and so the sponsorship from Keltbray is very welcome, because even as a good rider, it’s hard to make any money in this sport. But the thrill and buzz I get from doing this makes all the investment worthwhile, and I’m chuffed Keltbray has been so supportive. I hope the exposure and tickets to my races will get some of my colleagues interested in the sport and bikes in general.”
About the sponsorship, Plant Manager for Keltbray, Tom McNulty, said: “This is a new area of sponsorship for us, and we are delighted to support James in his quest for glory. He is a gifted rider, and depends on sponsorship to progress. We see it as positive that people are engaged in their lives beyond work, and James is clearly very dedicated to his sport. At Keltbray we like to support our people, and look forward to seeing James on the track and wish him every success with his racing.”
James first developed a passion for bikes as a 14-year old, when he got his first dirt bike after watching motorcycle racing on TV. He progressed onto a Honda CBR600rr once he got his full licence at the age of 17, and won a podium place at Donington last year: “It was a three-day race meet. I lost the front end and came off the bike at about 140mph in the first race, but was determined to get the third race in. This meant a five-hour round trip to get the spare parts required. After spending that night rebuilding the bike with my partner and crew chief, who is a qualified mechanic, I was chuffed against all odds to secure second place!”
