Esher 14 December 2016: Christmas is the season of giving. This year Keltbray is supporting the charity CRASH with a donation towards their work to assists the homeless and hospices with construction-related projects. We have also donated £1,000 worth of food and gifts to the Elmbridge Foodbank.

The gifts were wrapped by our own volunteer ‘Keltbray elves’ (pictured) and distributed by Central Surrey Health’s (CSH) Christmas Appeal to children and young people who otherwise may not receive a Christmas present this year.

Elmbridge Foodbank’s Lesley Underwood said: “I took one hamper plus toys to a single mum with a toddler and a young baby today, and the little boy could hardly contain himself with excitement! I got a lovely ‘squeezy hug’ from the mum. It belonged to you at Keltbray really, but I accepted it on your behalf!”

The other gifts are being kept at the food bank centre in East Molesey and will be given out in the lead up to Christmas when people drop in.

Rebecca Jones is Communications Manager for CSH, which is a community healthcare social enterprise that runs four community hospitals: “I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Keltbray for choosing to support our Christmas appeal this year. Keltbray’s very generous donation was, I know, very gratefully received by Elmbridge Foodbank. It is really good to know that local organisations can pull together to make a different to those less fortunate than ourselves this Christmas. Thank you again, and we wish you and all of the Keltbray Esher staff a happy and healthy Christmas,” she said.

Keltbray made its first food parcel drop to Elmbridge Foodbank on 13 December, and will make additional food drops in January and February. “People are very generous at Christmas but this tends to drop off sharply in the New Year, so this is when our Keltbray donations will make the most impact,” explained Keltbray’s Facilities Manager, Alison Darvill.
