Esher 18 April 2017: Keltbray Group; a UK leading specialist business, which offers engineering, construction, demolition, decommissioning, remediation, rail, environmental services and reinforced concrete frame solutions, is taking part in the UK’s largest ever ‘safety stand-down’ event on 18 April to Stop. Make a Change. This is a safety campaign focused on four themes: fatigue, mental health, respiratory illness and plant safety. It has been organised by the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) and is backed by the Health & Safety Executive.

Keltbray will use the day to discuss the commitments the company plans to make in relation to each of the four themes, with a view to implementing action plans relating to these over the next 12 months.

Keltbray’s Group Managing Director, John Price, said: “We in construction have traditionally not been so good at recognising what a significant role wellbeing plays in minimising the risk of incidents, and we therefore see this campaign as a good opportunity to get a better dialogue going when it comes to addressing this as well as the other key accident risks.

“We also plan to use this day to reflect on our performance, share best practice and use it as a catalyst for developing new and innovative ways to ensure we keep improving and reducing risks.”

For Keltbray, the day will be marked with an extended stand-down at the Royal Temperance Hospital site, where the company is carrying our demolition for HS2, and where the team will get a chance to participate in workshops and learn about recent achievements and future plans. There will be a number of interactive sessions and will involve our own health bus otherwise known as the KML Occupational Health’s mobile clinical unit and a demolition simulator.

The stand-down on the 18th will then be rolled out to sites across Keltbray’s business units and sites during April.

While the initiative has been developed by an industry working group that includes representatives from CECA members, it is open to any organization that is involved in the construction and/or maintenance of the UK’s transport and utility networks.
