Keltbray Group, a leading UK specialist business that offers engineering, construction, demolition, decommissioning, remediation, rail, power transmission & distribution, reinforced concrete structures and environmental services today announces it has signed up to the Rail Industry Association’s (RIA) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter as part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Keltbray is proud to be one of over 100 industry signatories on the Rail Industry Association’s (RIA) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter, amongst key industry figures such as HS2, Network Rail, Skanska, Transport for London (TfL), Arcadis and Great Western Rail (GWR). The charter’s goal to champion equality, diversity and inclusion in the UK railway industry is a goal Keltbray shares across all of its services.
The Charter is open to all companies, clients and organisations working in the UK railway industry who wish to play a role in promoting positive change. The Charter involves key commitments, which will see Keltbray commit to appointing an ‘EDI Champion’ within the senior management team, agree a targeted action plan, monitor and report on progress made and provide further opportunities for training and support.
The business believes it is their responsibility to continue to develop a culture to foster inclusion and make work a safe place for employees to talk openly, as well as expanding on its recruitment and progression processes to attract, retain and develop people of all backgrounds, ages, genders and identities.
Keltbray has an industry leading training and development department which delivers in excess of 70,000 hours of training and development services to the business and many more to its clients, charities and communities each year. Keltbray will build on its already successful offering by incorporating its commitment to diversity and inclusion as part of its training.
The business recognises the importance of diversity and inclusion in building a better future, and looks forward to building on the progress which has already taken place, to encourage further collaboration and development across the rail sector.
Lucy Maddin-Uden, Keltbray Strategic Projects Manager and member of the RIA EDI Charter working group, said, “As a signatory of the RIA’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter, it is our collective responsibility to incorporate diversity within the rail industry that widely reflects the world we live in. Only through collaborative and innovative working methods with other industry-leading signatories can we achieve this common goal.”
She added, “As a member of the EDI’s Charter working group, we have worked hard to strengthen the existing efforts made by the RIA to attract skill, talent and knowledge to the industry. With our CEO Darren James also sitting on the board of the RIA, Keltbray will continue to champion this goal.”
