Andrew Kirk, HSQE Manager at Keltbray

Ferrybridge ‘C’ has showcased Keltbray’s decommissioning offering for just over two years now. In that time we have carried out and completed numerous high-risk project milestones, a number of which we have captured on film.

As HSQE Manager based at our Ferrybridge C Demolition Project, it gives me the greatest of pleasure to reveal that we have now achieved the fabulous milestone of 1 Million safe working hours, without a reportable incident. To put this into perspective, we have averaged 38,000 working hours each month for 27 consecutive months.

Although continuously challenged by carrying out high risk activities, the skill, knowledge and strong safety culture of our team including the support of our client SSE, has been fundamental to our success. Implementing and following Keltbray’s robust HSQE policies and procedures has been a minimum standard we have all become accustomed to.

I am incredibly proud of all our employees at Keltbray, as well as our subcontractors, Omega Environmental Services and High Peak Scaffolding. This is a significant accomplishment for Keltbray’s Decommissioning service and is a great outcome resulting from the efforts of everyone in the company.

Furthermore, on the topic of safety, I am pleased to announce that on the 26th March 2021, the Project Team at Ferrybridge ‘C’ received a Merit from the British Safety Council. This should be highly commended, especially as it was decommissioning’s first submission to this award scheme.

My sincere thanks and congratulations go to everyone who has participated, collaborated and contributed, from every level, to reach this significant HSQE milestone and for the recent award wins.

“This achievement is something the whole Ferrybridge project team should be extremely proud of. The team have continued to operate in a high risk environment throughout the pandemic, remaining resilient through the application of our Covid-19 mitigation procedures and continuously providing a safe working environment for all. Congratulations to everybody who has contributed towards the achievement of this milestone.” James Brown, Head of HSQE – Built Environment
