On Monday 26th July, Van Elle and Keltbray commence piling works on Core Valley Lines in preparation for the electrification of the South Wales Metro.
Working together with Amey and Transport for Wales (TfW) this programme provides a significant milestone in the modernisation and decarbonisation of the transport network in Wales.
As two of the UK’s largest rail overhead line foundation contractors with bases in Wales, Van Elle and Keltbray bring a wealth of experience to the South Wales Metro from years of successful delivery on major electrification schemes in Wales, including The Greater West Electrification Programme (GWEP).
David Buckley, Director of Rail at Van Elle, and Warren Jones, Project Director of Rail at Keltbray, commented: “We are delighted to be supporting the electrification of the Core Valleys Lines on the South Wales Metro project. This important work will make it easier for people travel across the Cardiff Capital Region, transforming rail services in the region.”
“We are looking forward to working in partnership and delivering together for Wales.”
Together, the partnership has the largest and most versatile fleet of Colmar Road Rail Vehicles (RRV) and compatible attachments in the UK specifically designed for OLE piling on the railway.
