Keltbray, a leading UK specialist engineering business, today announces it has committed to setting science-based emissions reduction targets across all scopes, in line with 1.5°C emissions scenarios and the criteria and recommendations of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Science-based targets provide companies with a clearly-defined path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals. More than 1,000 businesses around the world are already working with the SBTi.

Business Ambition for 1.5°C is a campaign led by the SBTi in partnership with the UN Global Compact and the We Mean Business coalition. It was launched in 2019 by a global coalition of UN agencies, business and industry leaders.

Keltbray unveiled its new core purpose earlier this year, ‘To redefine the way sustainable development is delivered’, and today’s announcement further demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting the sector’s drive towards reducing carbon emissions in the delivery and operation of the built environment.

Kiro Tamer, Head of Environmental Sustainability at Keltbray commented: “Keltbray has set the target of achieving Net-Zero by 2040 and made a commitment to support our clients to achieve their own Net-Zero targets. Formalising our commitment was key but it was also the easy part, calculating our scope 3 emission and working with our clients and supply chain in order to achieve these targets will be the hard work. Collaboration between the entire supply chain and practical engineering innovations will be key in order to achieve such targets.”

“It’s an honour to align our climate mitigation targets with the most ambitious aim of the Paris agreement and pledge to keep warming to 1.5°C on the recommendation of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).”
