Keltbray, a leading UK specialist engineering business, today announces it has been awarded a £10m renewables contract to deliver the design and construction of a windfarm connection for SSEN Transmission at Limekiln, Caithness in the Highlands of Scotland.
The project will be delivered by Keltbray as Principal Contractor and the scope includes all civil and electrical design and build elements associated with the connection, including:
- A new 132kV sub-station – foundations, building, access roads, M&E and all electrical equipment
- A 5km 132kV wood pole overhead line including forestry enabling works / tree felling to clear a route for the overhead line
- 1km of 132kv cable laid from the overhead line into SSEN Transmission’s 132/275kv sub-station at Douneray
- Environmental management of the site
The contract was awarded at the end of February with on-site construction expected to commence in July ’22. The target energisation date for the windfarm is April ’24.
