Keltbray has won the Productivity Initiative of the Year for the HIPER Pile at the 2022 British Construction Industry Awards.

The inspirational winners of the 2022 British Construction Industry Awards, which is jointly organised by New Civil Engineer and the Institution of Civil Engineers, were crowned in front of the industry on 12 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The British Construction Industry Awards, celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2022, brought together more than 1,000 of the UK’s leading clients, consultants and contractors for a glittering evening of celebration, recognition and networking.

After face-to-face review by a panel of expert judges, Keltbray won in recognition of its HIPER Pile innovation. The judges commented that the HIPER pile is a technology that can be applied immediately, across a huge range of projects. It turns piles into heat exchangers for energy generation, and does that whilst reducing the embodied carbon and the time for manufacture and installation of the pile.

Claire Smith, editor of New Civil Engineer, commented: “I have the unique opportunity to see every shortlisted entry and the standard was extremely high this year.

During the judging process I heard the terms exemplar, outstanding and industry leading used and I would like to congratulate every one of our winners this year.

However, BCIA is not just about recognising and celebrating the achievements of the construction industry. It’s about recognising and celebrating what those achievements deliver for society – the better outcomes this sector creates. The industry is making a difference to society, while also acting on cutting carbon and delivering climate resilience, and a look at our winners this year provides the wider sector with a masterclass on what excellent looks like in 2022.”

Asha Panchal, Technical Manager for Piling at Keltbray, commented: “We are thrilled to have won the British Construction Industry award for Productivity Initiative of the Year which further demonstrates our commitment as a business to disrupt the market, and to ultimately deliver on our mission statement to redefine the way that sustainable development is delivered.

Our piling team have managed to develop, test and deliver a new piling methodology with unprecedented savings in embodied and whole life carbon with added environmental, Health and Safety, productivity and quality benefits. It’s an honour to be recognised by our peers for this achievement.”
