On the 24th November, alongside National Highways and suppliers Premier-TM, Saferoad and Queenswood Engagement, the Keltbray Highways M621 project team took part in the 2022 Leeds Big Sleep to raise money for St George’s Crypt, St Gemma’s Hospice and Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

Leeds Big Sleep is an award-winning fundraising challenge event which encourages participants to spend one night under the stars at Headingley Stadium, home of Leeds Rhinos, giving up just one night of comfort to raise money to give care and many different kinds of support to people in the city. All funds raised are shared equally between the three Leeds Charities.

Funds raised for this year’s Big Sleep by Keltbray, National Highways, and suppliers Premier-TM, Saferoad and Queenswood Engagement have reached £5,099.

St. Gemma’s Hospice provides specialist medical and nursing care for people with life-threatening illnesses, predominantly cancer, along with support for their families, in the In-Patient Unit, by the community care nurses, in the Day Hospice, or as an Out-Patient.

St George’s Crypt has been providing care and support to homeless and disadvantaged adults in Leeds since 1930. They offer food, emergency accommodation, specialist residential projects, recovery from addiction and much more.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is Leeds Rhinos’ official charity that delivers projects in the heart of the community, harnessing the power of sport to make a lasting, positive impact on individuals’ lives.

Vip Gandhi, Managing Director for Highways at Keltbray, said: “Keltbray is honoured to support this fantastic initiative alongside National Highways and the other supply chain partners. St George’s Crypt, St Gemma’s Hospice and Leeds Rhinos Foundation do brilliant work to support the local community which directly benefits people living in Leeds who might be struggling during the winter period and through the cost of living crisis. We’ve had some great support and would like to thank everyone who has helped us raise much needed funds for this important cause.”

Chris Musgrave, Senior Project Manager at National Highways, said: “At this time of year, the importance of groups like St George’s Crypt, St Gemma’s Hospice and Leeds Rhinos Foundation can’t be understated. National Highways is pleased to be involved in this event and support the vital work of these three charities. We’d like to thank everyone who has contributed time and donations in support of this cause. The funds raised by Leeds Big Sleep will have a profound impact on the communities and groups the charities represent.”

Dan Garnett, Project Manager at Premier Traffic Management, said: “Premier Traffic Management are delighted to volunteer and contribute towards this fundraising event to support St George’s Crypt, St Gemma’s Hospice and Leeds Rhinos Foundation. We endeavour to provide a consistent approach to all social value and community events as part of our core values held by the company. Being an SME with humble roots we wholeheartedly believe in the value returned to the community, with policies in place to deliver our commitment to giving back to the local community in which we proudly work.”

Ruth Curtis, Engagement Manager at Queenswood, said: “Through our work and engagement with the communities of Leeds, we have witnessed first-hand the importance of the incredible work all three charities do in our local area. And now more than ever, as we all navigate our way through a cost of living crisis, we all understand that times can very easily become tough through no fault of our own. Putting yourself in someone else’s shoes is a powerful way to gain perspective on the challenges many people face day to day and we are so proud to support such a fantastic cause. Thank you to everyone that has donated. Your support means so much to our team and the charities involved.”
