To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2023, we take the chance to sit down with a number of our apprentices to discuss how apprenticeships work for them.

Today we spoke with Ewart Mason, who is currently undertaking his apprenticeship in Demolition.

“I chose to do an apprenticeship at Keltbray because it was an opportunity to learn new skills alongside earning a living. Keltbray is one of the largest construction and engineering companies in the country and that gives me an opportunity to learn a lot from a wide range of people and the ability to progress in my career.

An apprenticeship opens you up to a host of options within the industry. There are many roles and areas you can choose to work in once you have completed your apprenticeship. I would advise anyone considering undertaking an apprenticeship in the Construction Industry to take on the challenge of work and see where it takes you. As part of my Apprenticeship in Demolition, I am gaining hands-on experience on different projects and learning the process of how buildings and structures are safely demolished/dismantled.

Once I have completed my apprenticeship, I will continue to gain experience and knowledge in the hopes of one day moving into site management and further progressing into project management at some stage of my career. On successful completion of my apprenticeship, I will continue my career development with Keltbray by undertaking training courses and taking on more responsibility on the projects I work on.”
