14 October 2016: Keltbray has won the 2016 Contract of the Year Award (over $1 million) for demolition at Earls Court.
This autumn Keltbray completed demolition of the Earls Court exhibition halls 1 and 2 and won the award on the back of the complexity of the contract: The judges said: “Complex large contracts require planning at all levels and all types when major structures need to be demolished. Keltbray showed they could do the job safely, on time and to budget, and with little or no disruption to surrounding infrastructure.”
In 2014 Keltbray was engaged by Capco to demolish Earls Court in what is one of the capital’s biggest ever regeneration, low carbon projects. The contract is paving the way for 7,500 new households (15% of London’s annual requirement), including 20% affordable). It is also facilitating 10,000 new and permanent jobs and bringing in £452 million worth of local community benefits, such as transportation improvements, a five acre park and skills training for local people.
The award was presented at the World Demolition Awards, which were presented on 14 October as part of the World Demolition Summit in Miami.
Managing Director of Keltbray, John Price, was delighted with the win: “At Keltbray our goal is to be the best in our sector and at everything we do, I think this award wins illustrates well the professional and expert manner with which we plan and carry our work to ensure a safe delivery on time and on budget,” he said.
