Introduction
Keltbray Aspire was awarded the contract to undertake major OLE wiring, Switching and SPS works throughout the Reading Station area.
The works consisted of:
- 96 wire runs of contact/catenary
- 1122no Standard Insulated Cantilevers
- 288no Anchor structures
- 76no Switches
- 96no Section Insulators
- 10,000 Metres of Earth Wire
- 10,000 Metres of ATF
The works were undertaken within 4hr working possessions 6 nights per week utilising up to 16 MEWPS and 2 no wiring units each shift. The project was successfully commissioned November 2017 which saw the test train run through Reading Station at 125mph under the Pantograph.
The project has been deemed to be one of the most complicated electrification projects undertaken over the last 20 years.
