Keltbray Rail, Principal Contractor, for individual wheeltimber projects for Network Rail Southern Region under the NR4 Simple Form of Contract.
Ongoing timber examinations by Network Rail have determined that replacement works on wheeltimber bridges are required every four to five years which are fed into a programme of renewals led by the individual Network Rail delivery unit.
Over the last few years Network Rail in Wessex, Kent, Sussex and East Anglia have used Keltbray Rail as the multi discipline provider to deliver these works.
The works involve the survey/procurement of all timbers including transoms and anti slip decking as required then final installation.
Following the production of suitable Safe System of Work Plan, full surveys were undertaken which allowed the ordering of the timbers, transoms, baseplates and anti slip decking.
As Keltbray Rail own and operate their own fleet of RRV’s as well as undertake a full permanent way service the completion of the works can be completed without the need of additional subcontractors reducing the risks to the project. The Track Handback Manager for Keltbray Rail then completes Network Rail Form TEF3203 to confirm that the structure is fit for the passage of trains.
To compliment this service Keltbray Rail can also undertake steelwork repairs to the structure whilst the timbers are out and can fabricate/install new steel cleats as required.
