This training course aims to provide learners with the necessary knowledge in which to discuss and ultimately decide the correct course of action for any particular working scenario in relation to asbestos in soil exposure and on-site asbestos in soils management.
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, Regulation 10 requires every employer to ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to their employees who are exposed or who are liable to be exposed to asbestos, or who supervises such employees. The HSE are prosecuting organisations that do not have management systems for asbestos, which must include training for all staff that may come into contact asbestos.
This Asbestos in Soils training course has been developed in conjunction with Ramboll and in accordance with CAR-SOIL and other industry guidance and best practises. The first half of the day takes place in the classroom where learners will gain an understanding of the legislative requirements of working with asbestos in soils and other key topics such as the site survey and unexpected discoveries. This is followed by a practical session in the afternoon in which trainees will encounter three working scenarios and various resultant methodology / decision-making approaches, all of which trainees may encounter on their own projects.
Learners will also have the opportunity to act out roles from the Site Manager to asbestos pickers, providing them with a practical experience of identifying mock asbestos in soils, implement mitigation measures and pick, bag and dispose of mock asbestos fragments where necessary. They will also learn how to communicate collaboratively with site and project management teams to understand the relevance of the asbestos in soils regulations and attendant health and safety implications.
Please note: Learners must have attended a UKATA Category B Non-Licensable Work with Asbestos Including NNLW wthin the previous 12 months in order to attend this course. You can book this course here.
