HR Advisor

Keltbray Group is a UK leading specialist business, which offers engineering, construction, demolition, decommissioning, remediation, rail, environmental services and reinforced concrete frame solutions. We are a key player in developing and maintaining Britain’s built environment, operating in highly regulated climates and transforming sites across the UK.

Our HR Department are now looking to recruit a HR Advisor to look after our specialist contracting services businesses based out of London and Esher.

The purpose of this role:

The HRA will have responsibility for managing all HR day-to-day operational issues within their nominated Business Units (BU’s).

They will be accountable to the HRBP for providing a comprehensive overview and insight into all operational issues arising. This will be attained through regular reports and 1-2-1 updates. They will be required to offer support and guidance to the team of operational Managers & site supervision and where necessary oversee and manage individuals to ensure that matters are dealt with efficiently and effectively.

The HRA will be required to develop good working relationships with all business unit stakeholders, in particular those at a mid to senior level. The HRA will also be responsible for ensuring that all HR policies and procedures are implemented correctly and adhered to through the proper checks and balances. A key responsibility will be to ensure that standardisation of group practices is in place throughout the operational units and sites. From time to time they will be required to lead the implementation of various change programmes.

Primary Tasks and Duties:

  • Responsibility to ensure that HR operational issues are dealt with correctly, in a timely fashion and delivered to the required standards
  • Acting as the primary/ first point of contact for Employee Relations issues and ensuring that the Company’s policy is implemented consistently across their nominated BU’s.
  • Provide HR advice, support and coaching on all aspects of employee relations as necessary ensuring that any advice given is in line with policy and best practice.
  • Support managers in a wide range of HR issues including disciplinary, grievance, performance management, redundancy, absence, bespoke working requests, and conducting maternity meetings and exit interviews.
  • Working closely with the supported business, to implement and deliver the HR Strategy/People Plan to include; talent, succession planning and change management, in order to support the delivery of business objectives and drive a high performance culture.
  • Work closely and building strong relationships with members of the supported business senior leadership team and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Recruitment – supporting the management team managing employee life cycle; this includes reviewing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, shortlisting, interviewing, selecting candidates.
  • Ensure the correct On-Boarding and payroll processing information is fed into Shared Services
  • Update and maintain Human Resource systems and records ensuring compliance with Data Protection and other relevant legislation at all times.
  • Undertake high level/complex administration as required to support projects and cases

Qualifications and Training


  • Previous HR Advisory experience (at least 1-2 years)
  • Experience of Employee Relations in complex, matrix organisations with strong operational experience


o   CIPD Level 5 or 7



  • A sound understanding of Human Resource principles and best practice
  • Substantial up to date knowledge of Employment Law
  • Substantial knowledge of dealing with employee relations including Disciplinary, grievance, sickness management, capability, terminations
  • Knowledge and experience of effective HR processes
  • Knowledge and experience of project management and delivery
  • Experience of writing and implementing policies, procedures & guidelines
  • Intermediate use of Microsoft Word, Excel and HR databases
