The Beginning at Keltbray

I joined Keltbray ten years ago as a site administrator on the BBC Television Centre project. Since then, I’ve progressed through various roles in Workforce Engagement and Behavioural Safety, and I`m now a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Project Manager.

A Fresh Perspective on Health and Safety

My academic background is in Marketing and Business Communications, so moving into Health and Safety was unexpected. However , I quickly realised how vital health and safety is in construction, not only to meet regulations but, more importantly, to protect people’s lives.

My passion is to create safer working environments, and we are fully committed to health and safety. My role involves developing safety information, so that it is clear, practical, and easy to use for everyone on site. By delivering the right information to the right people at the right time, I help our teams engage with safety every single day.

Leading Key Projects to Improve Safety Culture

I’ve managed multiple transformative initiatives, including the Promote Health, Prevent Harm strategy, the Big Six risk management programme, and the Stick To The Plan behavioural programme. A key concept is “Making Safety Simple,” where we replaced many traditional forms of communication with the ‘Back to Basics’ library: a user-friendly resource offering concise and relevant safety content.

Creating Visual Standards: Learning New Skills to Enhance Safety

One of my proudest achievements is the Keltbray Visual Standards project. I taught myself 3D design to develop visual guides that clearly illustrate safety procedures and recreate incidents for learning purposes. This visual approach has been very effective in improving safety culture and compliance on site.

Looking Ahead: Embracing Technology and Continuous Learning

I believe in continuous learning and personal growth. I`m currently part of The Circle Partnership mentoring programme, which supports women in construction and the built environment. I also see great potential in integrating AI into our health and safety practices to build on our progress and take our work to the next level.
