Environmental Sustainability

Sustainability is fundamental to how we deliver value for our clients, support our communities and help shape the built environment for future generations. As a specialist engineering and construction business, we recognise both the responsibility and the opportunity we have to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Our approach is grounded in continuous improvement. We celebrate the progress we make, while recognising that sustainability is an ongoing journey that requires collaboration, innovation and accountability.

Across our operations, we are focused on taking practical action, strengthening our evidence-led approach and delivering measurable results. From reducing waste and increasing resource efficiency to powering our fixed locations and projects with renewable energy, we are committed to making meaningful progress year after year.

Sustainability is not a destination. It is a long-term commitment to learning, adapting and finding better ways to deliver the essential infrastructure and services that support society, while protecting the environment on which we all depend.

“Meaningful environmental progress is achieved through consistent action, collaboration and a commitment to continuous improvement. While we recognise there is still much more to do, we are encouraged by the progress we are making and remain focused on delivering practical solutions that reduce our environmental impact and create long-term value for our clients, communities and the wider industry.”

Our Capabilities

A bright green 100% electric wheel loader operates on a construction and demolition site, surrounded by piles of rubble and soil. An excavator and large industrial buildings stand in the background, with modern residential buildings visible beyond under a clear blue sky.

Carbon

Keltbray is accredited to PAS 2080, the standard for carbon management in buildings and infrastructure. This accreditation supports our approach to delivering carbon reductions. We work with stakeholders to make informed decisions, reduce whole-life carbon and create positive outcomes.

Our in-house expertise supports clients in delivering Whole Life Carbon Assessment commitments at construction stage. We assess what is achievable, consider the carbon, cost and delivery implications, and propose practical alternatives that support intended outcomes.

Circular Economy

We help clients apply circular economy principles throughout the project lifecycle, from early design through to delivery. Our team provides pre-planning advice to identify opportunities to retain existing assets, assess material demand, design out waste and maximise resource reuse and recovery.

Working with project teams, designers and supply-chain partners, we support evidence-led decisions that reduce environmental impacts, improve resource efficiency and create long-term value.

Noise and Vibration

Our experienced in-house noise and vibration specialist provides practical project support, including consent applications, modelling, impact assessments and proportionate mitigation measures.

Combining technical expertise with an understanding of construction delivery, we help project teams manage risk, meet regulatory and client requirements, and minimise impacts on neighbouring communities and sensitive receptors.

Reporting

Reliable sustainability data is essential to our clients. We have invested in reporting systems, including digital waste tracking, to improve the quality, consistency and transparency of information across our projects. This provides greater visibility of waste movements, supporting accurate reporting, compliance and resource efficiency.

By turning project data into actionable insight, we can monitor performance, identify trends and demonstrate progress against project requirements and sustainability objectives, supporting informed decisions and measurable outcomes.
