GE Sustainability Conference 2025

Keltbray was pleased to sponsor the GE Sustainability & Resilience: The Green Print 2025 Conference.

Guided by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, the event featured expert insights on sustainable infrastructure, climate adaptation, and responsible resource use – highlighting the need for action today to create environmentally responsible projects for tomorrow.

Our Group Sustainability Director, Holly Price, chaired an insightful panel discussion on the theme “Centralising Sustainability: The role of standardised approaches to carbon calculation and reporting”, joined by Paul Breslin (British Drilling Association), Sarah Cook (Onyx Consulting), and Stuart Norman CEng FICE (The Federation of Piling Specialists).

Audience of approximately 50 people seated at dark tables in a modern conference room, watching a presentation on a wall-mounted screen.

Key takeaways from the session included:

  • ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) remains a steep learning curve. Northern carbon data poses particular challenges, especially for large organisations.
  • Fragmented data collection continues to be a hurdle, as the industry is largely made up of SMEs. We recognise this as a collective issue that requires a unified and standardised approach to data management.
  • The industry’s approach to sustainability has evolved significantly over recent decades, and its importance continues to grow. However, sustainability is still frequently delegated solely to the sustainability team, rather than being embraced as a shared responsibility.

Earlier in the day, Tim Lohmann, our Director of Strategic Engineering at Keltbray, opened the discussions with his session “Balancing ESG Goals and Realistic Timelines in Construction” – exploring how innovative engineering solutions can align with sustainability objectives, deliver resilience and value in construction, and pave the way for further meaningful conversations.

Sustainability and resilience are essential pillars to shaping the future of infrastructure. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for such an inspiring day
