Keltbray Built Environment Limited returned to profitability in the financial year ending 31 October 2024, reporting a £3.2 million net profit – up from a £104k loss in FY23.

The turnaround was driven by a 17% rise in revenue and a 71% increase in gross profit, reflecting increased rigor in opportunity selection, stronger project controls and tighter operational execution.

A key factor was the successful adoption of the Integrated Project Model, where our customers can benefit from a more efficient and controlled delivery of works utilising several of our specialist engineering services in combination. This approach has improved performance and client satisfaction through clear, single point accountability.

Opportunity selection has also become more disciplined. The Executive Investment Panel now rigorously assesses potential projects to pursue the quality of earnings as opposed to volume, and to better evaluate risk and commercial criteria, assuring enhanced governance and protection of margins.

Cash performance followed suit, with year-end cash up £5.8 million, founded on better profit conversion and working capital management. The business remains debt-free and benefits from access to Keltbray Group’s £30 million Metro Bank facility, further strengthening financial resilience.

Entering FY25, the business holds £302 million in secured workload and forecasts £350 million in revenue. Mid-year results are on track, with further profit growth expected in the full-year accounts.

With a strong blue-chip client base and most FY25 work secured, the business is well-placed to continue pursuing profitable, well-aligned opportunities. Growth will remain focused on quality of earnings which are underpinned by technically complex, safety-critical, and reliably delivered projects, with particular focus on adjacent regulated markets.
