Keltbray’s emissions reduction targets have now been validated as in line with climate science by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).

The latest climate science from the IPCC – described by the UN as “code red for humanity” – shows it is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, but we are dangerously close to that threshold.

Science-based targets give companies a clearly defined path to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. They define how much and how quickly a business must reduce its emissions to be in line with the Paris Agreement goals.

The SBTi’s Target Validation Team has classified Keltbray’s scope 1 and 2 target ambition and has determined that it is in line with a 1.5°C trajectory. Keltbray’s ambitious 1.5°C-aligned target has been commended by the SBTi and is currently the most ambitious designation available through the SBTi process.

Our near-term targets are as follows:

Keltbray Holdings LTD commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 46.4% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.

Keltbray Holdings LTD also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 55.0% per million GBP value added by 2030 from a 2019 base year.

In short, we are committed to approximately halving our total GHG emissions by 2030.

Disclaimer: The above two targets are near-term emissions reduction targets and as such means we are not yet net-zero aligned, due to not having committed to long-term emissions reduction targets. However, our approvals show a significant milestone in tackling emissions throughout our operations by committing to our targets through a certified body.
