Keltbray delivered a programme of major civil engineering works across the HS2 route in the West Midlands, supporting the construction of critical infrastructure for the UK's new high-speed railway.

Working for Balfour Beatty VINCI JV, the scope encompassed large-scale earthworks, drainage infrastructure, highway construction and ground engineering activities. The works included the delivery of the Crackley Wood Cutting and the A429 site access infrastructure, providing essential construction platforms, transport links and supporting infrastructure required for the wider HS2 programme.

Through the integration of earthworks, material reuse, drainage systems and highway construction, Keltbray successfully delivered key enabling infrastructure that supported the progression of one of the UK's largest and most significant transport infrastructure projects.

Key Facts:

  • Major civil engineering works delivered across the HS2 route: Keltbray completed a comprehensive package of earthworks, drainage, highways and ground engineering works, creating critical infrastructure required to support the construction of the HS2 railway.
  • Large-scale earthworks and ground stabilisation undertaken: The project involved significant excavation, embankment construction and in-situ material treatment, establishing construction platforms and infrastructure corridors while maximising the reuse of site-won materials.
  • Integrated highways and drainage infrastructure constructed: Keltbray delivered new access roads, drainage systems, utility interfaces and associated infrastructure, providing essential connectivity and operational support for HS2 construction activities.

Project outcomes

  • Critical Infrastructure Delivered for HS2 Construction:

The completed works provided the earthworks, access routes and supporting infrastructure necessary to facilitate ongoing rail construction activities across the HS2 programme.

  • Construction Platforms and Transport Links Successfully Established:

The delivery of excavation, ground engineering and highway infrastructure created the foundations required for future stages of one of the UK's most significant transport projects.

  • Efficient and Sustainable Major Civils Delivery:

By integrating earthworks, drainage, highways and material reuse within a coordinated delivery model, Keltbray reduced waste, improved construction efficiency and supported the successful delivery of nationally significant infrastructure.
