Paddington Overstation

Paddington Overstation is a complex over-site development located alongside Paddington Station, one of London’s busiest transport interchanges. 

Together with Wentworth, Keltbray is delivering the complex substructure package for a new 20-storey mixed-use development overlooking Paddington Basin. Operating within a highly constrained urban environment, adjacent to live transport infrastructure, commuter routes and existing waterways, the project requires careful planning, logistics management and close coordination with multiple stakeholders. 

The works support the transition from enabling activities through to superstructure construction, including station interface works, basement formation, core construction and associated infrastructure. 

Working alongside the station’s live taxi ramp, the Paddington Canal and Bishop’s Bridge, the team has collaborated with TfL, Network Rail, London Underground and local stakeholders to maintain access, manage interfaces and minimise disruption throughout the programme.

• Delivering in a highly constrained environment: The project is taking place within a compact site surrounded by live transport infrastructure, waterways and busy pedestrian routes. Phased works and logistics coordination have enabled construction activities to progress safely while maintaining access and minimising disruption. 
• Managing complex stakeholder interfaces: Working adjacent to Paddington Station involves continuous communication with multiple stakeholders, including TfL, Network Rail, London Underground and Paddington Central. 
• Sequencing complex substructure works: Progressing from enabling works through piling, propping and basement construction requires detailed planning at every stage to support efficient delivery while preparing the site for the next phase of development.
